PT Bumi Enggang Khatulistiwa (BEK) is the owner of a coal mining concession which covers an area of 4,570 hectares located 450 km northwest of Samarinda, the capital city of East Kalimantan Province. BEK obtained its Mining Business License (IUP) in April 2011 for 20 years of coal production.
Production Plan and Marketing
The coal in the concession area is sub-bituminous with the properties of low ash and low sulphur contents and will be produced for both the domestic and export markets. BEK will commence coal production in an open cast mining operation in early 2012 with a targeted production capacity of approximately 2-3 million metric tonnes per year.
